"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)
At the end of all our struggles, fightings, frettings, worryings, strivings, is our God. He is waiting patiently for us to come "home" with our issues, and lay them all at His feet. Be what you were created to be. Glory in Him. Rest in Him. Depend on Him.
Circumstances avail us all. Most of the time its the same old ones. Some are seemingly more difficult and seemingly insurmountable, however whatever your issue, it is just that, your issue. It is what you are dealing with and it can consume you if you let it. Step back and look at everything, put it in perspective and walk out into the light, and memorize this:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)

"By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life." (Proverbs 22:4 NKJV)
In this life so many things are uncertain, out of our control, beyond our control, but the things within our control so often we don't control. For example, humility and fear (reverence, respect) of the Lord are two things which carry big rewards and we so often don't exercise them.
To have humility and fear of the Lord you don't have to wait on anyone, buy anything, wait until you are a certain age or stage in life, wait until you have arrived or are good enough, there is nothing to legitimately keep you from these two.
Embrace these two. And there is something in it for you...haha usually with all the jobs we do, there doesn't ever seem to be anything immediate in it for us. Here it tells us there are riches, honor and life. Well, I believe it do you?

Proverbs Month, March 1, 2014
James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
New month. New theme. Proverbs.
So this month we are going to go through the Proverbs one for each day of March. The more we are in the word of God the more we will love it and live our life by it.
First just a bit of FYI. Proverbs were written by King Solomon, the son of King David (yep the one and only David and Goliath).
Tells us this right there in verse 1. So y'all don't really need me or anyone else to tell you these bits of treasure. It's there for the taking (reading). I am just y'all's cheerleader and encourager. Go team!
Solomon is hailed as the wisest man who ever lived and he, Solomon, is about to impart to us in the next 31 days a bunch of that wisdom. So get ready to be really wise.
Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge." This is not, oh, I am so scared fear, but reverence, awe, respect. So we begin our wisdom journey with respect and awe for the Lord and off we go. Then He tells us that fools despise wisdom. Ouch. Don't be a fool.
Verse 8: Moms, train those children so they won't despise wisdom or instruction. Kids, listen to your Daddy and Mama.
Verses 10-19: Warning to children to stay away from sinners and don't listen to their crazy ways. That choice to listen to sinners doesn't have a very good ending.
Verses 20-31: Wisdom calls us, rebukes us, shows us some life lessons if we don't listen, and tells us we will be "secure and without fear of evil" if we listen to wisdom.

Proverbs 2, March 2
Proverbs 2 begins by telling us what to do to receive wisdom. Verses 1-4: Tell us to receive God's words, treasure God's commands, incline your ear to wisdom, apply your heart to understanding, cry out for discernment, lift your voice for understanding, seek wisdom as silver, search for wisdom as for hidden treasures. Verse 5: The rewards for verses 1-4 are to understand the fear of the Lord, find knowledge of God, wisdom, knowledge, understanding.
Verses 7-9: Some more things the Lord does for those who seek and are wise. He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. He guards the paths of justice. Preserves the way, helps you understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.
When we seek wisdom, understanding, and discretion it helps deliver us from the way of evil.
Wisdom delivers one from the immoral woman, the seductress. Here in Proverbs 2 we see some of her ways and the troubles that follow. Not a good idea at all!

Proverbs 3, March 3
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil." (Proverbs 3:5-7 NKJV)
This is my favorite Proverb and my "go to" verses 5-7. But there is waaay more in this Proverb.
Each time we read the Word, because God's word is alive, it speaks to us of our current situation, our current needs, our current hurts. Like anything with the Lord, you must allow it to speak to you, you must make that choice to go to the Lord and allow Him to help, comfort, heal, fulfill your needs.
In this third Proverb, as King Solomon is under the direction of the Lord it reminds us (V. 1-3) not to forget the Lord's law, but let our hearts keep the Lord's commandments, neither let mercy nor truth forsake us.
Where do we put our trust? Verses 5: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart," what not to do "lean not on your own understanding." Don't try to figure things out, obsess about situation, dwell on your problems, using your understanding, which apart from the Lord's wisdom is very limited.
You need direction? "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." v.6
Keep reading lots of great things in the rest of this Proverb. I'm just highlighting.

Proverbs 4, March 4
By the time we finish March and have gone through all the Proverbs, I hope you will love them as much as I do. You will see that every time you read through the Proverbs (each month) a different verse will jump out at you.
Verse 1 starts off with a bang. Listen to your father and you will gain understanding, insight.
Verse 5 is back to telling us to get wisdom.
Verse 6 don't forsake wisdom.
Verse 7 wisdom is the main thing, and understanding will come.
Verses 8-22 what wisdom will do for you; what following an evil path will do... Choose wisdom.
Verse 23 Keep your heart with all diligence. Guard your heart. For out of it come all things.
Verses 24-27 No deceitful mouth, no perverse lips, eyes straight ahead, feet on right path, do not turn to the right or left, and remove your foot from evil.
Basically King Solomon is telling us to seek wisdom and through wisdom we can make wise decisions. Keep the main thing the main thing. Eyes on the prize. Steady the course. Weary not. Carry on.

Proverbs 5, March 5
And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. (1 Kings 4:29, 30 KJV)
Here in this scripture we see why Solomon is so wise. God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding great big, and largeness of heart. We see in 1 Kings that Solomon's reputation for being wise was known far and wide. And I tell you all this why? For us to appreciate that we are being taught, in the Proverbs, by the wisest man who ever lived inspired by God, made wise by God.
One more really cool thing was how Solomon came about getting a wise and understanding heart, and became the man no one was like before him, nor after him. First Kings 3:5-15 tells us that God came to Solomon in a dream and asked him what should God give him. Solomon asked God to give him an understanding heart to judge the people, and discernment between good and evil. This request really pleased the Lord because Solomon did not ask for long life, riches, nor the life of his enemies. Therefore God also gave Solomon what he didn't ask for: riches and honor, along with what he ask for: wisdom and an understanding heart.
Now on to Proverbs 5. Once again we are admonished to pay attention to wisdom, and hear the Lord's understanding, preserve discretion, and guard knowledge.
Verse 4-23 Here are the warnings about the immoral woman and the path that ends in death. Basically, this is the importance/necessity to be faithful to one's spouse and the picture of the ruin that comes if you are not.

Proverbs 6, March 6
Proverbs 6
Verses 1-6: Don't make promises with your mouth that you can't keep with your pocketbook (old Tennessee saying). This simply means don't make bad investments or promises. If you do just go to that person and beg out of it.
Verses 6-11: Don't be lazy. Watch the ants running all around working as hard as their little legs (all six of them) can go. Train your children to work hard. Help them learn what that means. Teach them to be good helpers and not just sit by and watch others serve them.
Verses 12-15: Beware of wicked, manipulative, blame shifting folks. Stay away from them.
Verses 16-19: Seven things the Lord hates. They are an abomination (more intense than hate) to Him.
1. Proud look (haughty, arrogant)
2. Lying tongue
3. Hands that shed innocent blood
4. A heart that devises wicked plans
5. Feet that are swift to run to evil
6. A false witness that speaks lies
7. One who sows discord among brethren (trouble maker)
Verses 20-23: Listen to your parents. It bears repeating. Listen to your parents. Train your children to accept instruction and train them in obedience. It will keep them out of trouble.
Verses 24-35: Do not commit adultery. Beware, run, flee, stay clear of all that kinda stuff. It begins very stubtlety and progresses to destruction. Do not allow anything improper no matter how "innocent" it may seem at the time.

Proverbs 7, March 7
Proverbs 7
Verses 1-4: Know God's word, keep it close to your heart (memorize it). Keep God's commandments and live. The Word should be special to you. Love wisdom and understanding like your sister (that is if you really like her...ha). The Word, wisdom and understanding will keep you out of trouble.
Verses 5-27: More warnings about the promiscuous seductress. Be warned, according to verse 27, the end result is death.

Proverbs 8, March 8
Verses 1-5: In this Proverbs we are hearing wisdom call out to us and understanding yell to us.
Verse 5: Learn prudence.
Verse 6: Listen. Wisdom speaks excellent things, right things, truth.
Verse 7: Wickedness is an abomination (which means extreme hate, loathe entirely)
Verse 8: All the words of my mouth (it's wisdom talkin here) are with righteousness. Nothing crooked or perverse in wisdom's words.
Verse 9: Wisdom words are plain to him that understand, and right to those who find knowledge.
Verse 10: Search for and receive instruction and knowledge rather than silver and gold.
Verse 11: Wisdom is better than rubies. Anything you may want just cannot compare to wisdom.
Verse13: We are told earlier (Proverbs 1:7) that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So as we do that we hate evil; pride, arrogance and the evil way.
Verses 14-18: All the wonderful things that come with wisdom are here. If you diligently seek wisdom you will find it. Riches, honor, and righteousness are with wisdom. Lots of great things come when we seek wisdom.
Verses 19-32: Wisdom was always around. As God was creating the world and all the things in it.
Verses 33-35: Hear instruction and be wise. Find wisdom, find life, and obtain favor from the Lord.
Verse 36: Bad news for those who hate wisdom.

Proverbs 9, March 9
Verse 6: Forsake foolishness and live.
Verses 7-9: Lesson here about rebuking a foolish man as opposed to rebuking a wise man. A foolish man doesn't seek or want counsel and will "hate" you if you try. A wise man seeks counsel and will love you if you rebuke him. But a word about that (unless the Lord instructs you otherwise) try to hold your advice unless it's asked for. Generally people are ready to hear once they ask you. It generally goes better for you this way. Love them and be available and if they ask tell them the truth.
Verse 10: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
Verses 13: Don't be a foolish woman.
Verses 14-18: Once again warning of the troubles of a foolish woman. And her trickery.

Proverbs 10, March 10
Just a thought before we begin Proverbs 10: we are called to "share one another's burdens." Praying for others is a great way to do that. Whenever we do something for others, that's really nice and sweet of us, and yes it helps. But have you ever stopped to think about who really benefits the most when you reach out and help others? When you earnestly pray for others, feel that hurt, pain, and have compassion for them, when you "come to someone's rescue," when you put others before yourself. It's you. Why in the midst of serving do you feel your most joy? Simple answer. You have taken your eyes off yourself and are focusing on others. Seeing the needs of others helps your needs and problems to fade. Not disappear, but at least dull for a little while. So live eyes wide open looking for the opportunity to love on someone today!
Proverbs 10:
Be a wise son, work hard, take direction (orders if you will), walk in integrity, hatred stirs up strife, love covers all sins, be wise, store up knowledge, do not refuse correction, keep instruction, if you restrain your lips you are wise, mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, lips of righteous know what is acceptable. The wick fear, evil is sport to them, a fool spreads slander, heart of the wicked is worth little, mouth of the wicked knows what is perverse.

Proverbs 11, March 11
Proverbs 11:1 The Lord loves honest, honest dealings, so be honest in all your dealings.
Watch out for pride=shame, but with the humble is wisdom. Wisdom, humility, wisdom.
Righteousness is the name of the game.
Verse 9-13: Hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor. City is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor. A talebearer reveals secrets. On the other hand -- positive side -- for those on the Lord's side, through knowledge, the righteous will be delivered, city rejoices, city exalted, man of understanding holds his peace, a man of faithful spirit conceals a matter instead of being a talebearer who reveals secrets.
Verse 14: With no counsel people fall; but in a multitude of counselors there is safety.
Verse 19: Righteousness leads to life.
Verse 22: Be a lovely woman with discretion.
Verse 25: Be a generous soul.
Verse 27: Earnestly seek good and you will find favor. Do not seek evil.
Verse 28: Do not trust in riches because they will fail you.
Verse 29: He who wins souls is wise.

Verse 1: Love instruction.
Verse 4: An excellent wife is the crown of her husband.
Verse 15: The way of a fool is right in his own eyes. A fool thinks he is doing the right things. Heed counsel, that is wise.
Verse 16: A prudent man covers shame.
Verse 19: Truthfulness is forever, lying is for a moment.
Verse 22: Every parent's go to verse: "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight."

Don't you just love the Proverbs? I can just picture
Solomon, writing utensil in hand, pondering the best of his wisdom to share with
us. Oh, yeah and I surely better tell them this. Oh boy here's a good
one, hope they don't fall into this trap, and so on.
Journey on my sisters. It only gets better.
Verse 1: Listen to instruction. He even goes so far as to say a wise son heareth his father's instruction. Side note here. If you are a Mom you can train your children to heed instruction and be wise.
Verse 3: Watch (guard, keep it closed) that mouth and preserve your life.
Verse 4: Lazy folks desire and have nothing.. But the diligent shall be made rich.
Verse 5: Righteous man hates lying.
Verse 6: Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless.
Verse 9: The light of the righteous rejoices.
Verse 10: Beware of that pride. By it comes nothing but strife.
Verse 11: Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but work, labor will yield an increase.
Verse 13: Don't despise the Word.
Verse 14: Wisdom keeps you on the right path.
Verse 18: Bad things come upon those who hate correction.
Verse 20: Another great teenage parenting verse: walk with wise men and be wise, but a companion of fools will be destroyed.

Another thing I love about the Proverbs is that the reading of them every day is sooo simplistic and easy to remember. My life now is not nearly as complicated as it has been in years past, but whenever all my babies were little I was lucky to remember my name, much less where I was with my devotional readings. So a wonderful friend of mine, Connie, showed me how the reading of the Proverbs/Psalms was so easy to remember. The Proverbs are the easiest (one a day and it coincides with the day of the month) and as we are seeing so full of wisdom that we ladies need. Adding the Psalms was not as simple, but still pretty easy: You read 5 Psalms a day. On first day of each month it's 1, 31, 61, 91, 121. So on the second day of the month it is 2, 32, 62, 92, 122, etc. Just add 30.
Billy Graham. the wonderful faithful evangelist, said of the Proverbs and Psalms:
"I used to read five Psalms every day - that teaches me how to get along with God. Then I read a chapter of Proverbs every day and that teaches me how to get along with my fellow man."
Proverbs 14:1 "Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands." This means to me a wise woman (a Godly woman who seeks and listens to God from whom she gains her wisdom, protects her husband and her home by being the servant of all, submitting to the leadership of her husband and training her children in the ways of the Lord. Whereas, a foolish woman destroys her own home and life by listening to the counsel of the world, woman rights falsely called, and pursuing her "own" career.
Verses 2-3 Walk uprightly, fear the Lord, don't despise Him, pride is foolishness.
Verse 4: "Where no oxen are, the trough is clean;" you know what this means if you've ever been in a barn. Didn't take you long to figure out if there were animals there or not. Also I think about this verse so often in relating to busy moms and their children when it comes to house cleaning, cooking, and laundry. When the children are grown and gone there certainly isn't all that work but it is so worth it. The crib/trough maybe clean, but much increase comes by the "strength"/presence of your children.
Verse 7: Another great parenting verse. "Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge."
Verse 9: "Fools mock at sin..."
Verse 13: A person entrenched in sin thinks he is right, but the end is death. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."
Verse 15: Don't be simple and believe every word.
Verse 16: "A wise man fears and departs from evil. But a fool rages and is self-confident."
Verse 17: "A quick tempered man acts foolishly."
Verse 18-25: Be prudent, have mercy on poor, mercy and truth belong to those who devise good, work hard for there is profit.
Verse 26-27: In fear of the Lord is confidence, and a foundation of life.
Verse 29: Be slow to wrath.

Proverbs 15, March 15
Verse 1: Alert alert. Great parenting verse and just any overall great verse for life! "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
Verse 3: Another parenting for teenagers, ha ha kidding, more like for us all. "The eyes of the LORD are in every place. Keeping watch on the evil and the good."
Verse 5: Don't despise your father's instructions, receive correction, it is prudent. Lots of warnings in this Proverb about foolishness, and a fool's behavior.
Verse 8: "Prayer of the upright is the Lord's delight."
Verse 10: When those who have lost their way are corrected, they hate it.
Verse12: "A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him."
Verse 13: Be joyfilled; it makes a cheerful countenance.
Verse 16: "Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith."
Verse 17-27: Be slow to anger, don't despise your mother, purpose is often found in a multitude of counselors, do not be proud, don't be greedy of gain, be righteous, do not refuse instruction, hear reproof and get understanding.
Verse 28: "The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil."
Verse 33: "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility."

Proverbs 16, March 16
Verse 2: People justified their actions and think they are right.
Love this verse 3: "Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established."
Verse 5: Do not be proud in heart.
Verse 6: Mercy and truth are atonement for iniquity: "And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil."
Verse 16: "How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver."
Verse 18: "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."
Verse 20: "He who heeds the word wisely will find good. And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he."
Verse 25: We saw this same kind of proverb early, where man's ways seem right to him and the more he deviates from the Lord's plan and His ways the more man thinks he is right. "But its end is the way of death."
Verse 32: Be slow to anger.

Proverbs 17, March 17
Invest in the life of others. Live every day eyes wide open to whom the Lord puts into your life to touch. When we live looking out, we are so much happier than looking inward.
Every Mama can identify with the mama bear robbed of her cubs (at least we can identify with the protective feelings of a mama bear) in this Proverb verse 12. A fool's folly must be something else...stay clear!
Verse 13: Don't reward evil for good.
Verse 15: Don't justify the wicked, and don't condemn the just.
Verse 22: A Merry heart does good like medicine.
Verse 23: Don't raise a foolish son who will be a grief to his father and bitterness to his mother....train those children!
Verse 28: Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.

When the Lord puts someone on your heart and mind, pray for them. Then text them, e-mail them, facebook, or, hey, even call them. Simply keep things simple in your life. Make your standard God's standard, never the world's standard. These great tips are from, "God's Calling."
Proverbs 18:1 Don't isolate yourself and don't rage against all wise judgment.
Verse 2: A fool really doesn't care about the facts or understanding; he just wants to "express" himself.
Verse 3: A flowing brook is used to describe to us an abundance of wisdom.
Verse 6-8: A fool will argue and enter into contention, a fool's mouth is his destruction, words of gossips and talebearers are like "tasty trifles" and go down too easy. Beware.
Verse 10: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe."
Verse 12: "Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility."
Verse 13: Listen to the entire matter before you answer. Don't want folly and shame to yourself.
Verse 21: Be careful how you speak to people. Moms, this is a great verse/warning for us: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." We do have to correct and issue instructions, but as Moms we need to choose our words carefully, to build up not tear down!
Verse 22: "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord." Looks like a confirmation that the "man" of our dreams is suspose to find us. Not the other way around as the world is telling us.
Verse 23: Be friendly.

Verse 11: Another verse for the parents. Your child no matter the age has a reputation. So if you allow your child to be selfish, hate filled, mean spirited, manipulative, etc., then those will be his doings. "Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right." Direct your child's behavior to be pure and right!
Verse 15: "There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel."
Verse 17: Deceit is sweet at first but afterwards it turns bad.
Verse 19: Talebearers (gossips) reveal secrets. Meddle not (don't mess with, stay away from) those that flatter you.
Verse 20: Don't curse your father or your mother. It will not end well for you.
Verse 22: Let the Lord fight your battle, fight evil. He is the only one who can save you.
Verse 23: Divers weights (cheating) is an abomination to the Lord.

Verse 2: "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts."
Once again, in this next verse, the Lord looks more to heart attitudes than with the outward actions. Verse 3: "To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice."
It's attitude that counts: high look, proud heart, works of the wicked equal sin.
Verse 8: The work of the pure is right.
Verse 9: A brawling woman is bad news.
Verse 11: "...and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge."
Verse 19: Solomon should certainly know about women since he had 700 wives and 300 concubines. Sounds like experience when he says in this verse "It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and angry woman."
Verse 20: A wise man doesn't spend all his treasure, nor use up all his oil, but a foolish man spends it up.
Verse 21: "He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour."
Verse 23: Great advice: "Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles."
Verse 30: "There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord."

This Proverb is practical.
Verse 1: Great word, for us and for us as parents. Train those blessing to have a good name. "A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches..."
Verse 2: Rich or poor, the Lord made us all.
Verse 4: Love this verse and have quoted it to my children for years. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life."
Verse 6: This is the consummate parenting verse. However, instead of concentrating on the end of the verse let's concentrate on the first of it and really get busy training those children the Lord has entrusted to us. "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it."
Verse 7: If you borrow money you are a servant to that lender.
Verse 8: Want to be blessed? Then have a generous (bountiful) eye and think of helping others.
Verse 15: "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child. The rod of correction will drive it far from him." Amen and amen.
Verse 17: Use your ears and hear the words of the wise. Apply your heart to knowledge. I used to say to my children when they were little: Use your ears and eyes before you use your mouth. Should have said apply to your heart! Ha.
Verse 24-25: "Make no friendship with an angry man, And with a furious man do not go, lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul." Choose your friends wisely.

Christian books don't "change" our life, only the Word of God can do that. Other books help us along our journey and encourage us, but they don't have the transforming living power that the Word of God has.
So many of these Proverbs are absolutely things we all know but just need to be reminded of. Verse 4: "Do not overwork to be rich;" Verse 7: "For as he thinks in is heart, so is he, "Eat and drink!" he says to you, But his heart is not with you."
Verse 9: Don't waste your breath speaking to a fool. "He will despise the wisdom of your words."
Verse 10: "Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge."
Now this verse 13 ("Do not withhold correction from a child,For if you beat him with a rod he will not die") has disturbed many folks, but I think Solomon's heart here, therefore God's intent for Solomon's wisdom in this verse is merely a word issue. Whenever we hear the word beat it has come to mean something horrible and unspeakable that one might do to a child, however a sound spanking is more palatable to us and is I believe what this means. Discipline God's way brings repentance and a life free of guilt and shame. Not condemnation nor cruelty. Discipline through spanking will drive foolishness from the heart of a child and therefore (verse 14) "You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell." Preserving their life, prolonging their life. We will talk more about this next month as we will dive into a month of parenting devotions.
Verse 17: "Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day."
Verse 19: "Hear, my son, and be wise; And guide your heart in the way."
Verse 29-35: Be wary of lingering at the wine too long.

When we have failures or less than "perfect" things in our life often we begin to let those "experiences" define us. We often think if we fail at something then we are failures. This is so very far from the truth. The enemy of our souls tries to tell us unless we are perfect we are not good Christians or maybe not even a Christian at all. If we have less than perfect children then we are "bad" failures at parenting. Our enemy wants us to believe that we have nothing to offer unless we get it all together and are "perfect" in all our endeavors. Please know that we are all works in progress, the Lord is transforming us all, we never ever get to a point that we have nothing to learn or no room to grow. Always room to improve and continuing our journey being transformed His image. Share your life if you feel so led of the Lord. Just heard recently that people often learn more and are helped more from our failures than our successes. May we all walk closely enough to hear that still small voice and feel that gentle nudge to reach out and share ourselves and our Jesus with others.
Verse 1-2: "Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them; For their heart devises violence,And their lips talk of troublemaking."
Verse 3: "Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established."
Verse 5: "A wise man is strong."
Wisdom is for the wise and the more we seek wisdom the wiser we will be. It is not so with the foolish nor the evil. Their hearts desire violence, troublemaking, etc.
Verse 19: "Do not fret because of evildoers..." This is a great verse for us today as we view our world and politics.
Verse 33-34: Do not be lazy.

You have 86,400 seconds each day, and you must use them all and can't save them. Can't carry them over till tomorrow and each new day you will get 86,400 more. I saw a clip about this today that really got me to thinking about the power of this. Imagine if we just use our seconds of each day to glorify the Lord. Well, at least use some of them each day because you have 86,400 of them each day.
Verse 6-7: "Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, And do not stand in the place of the great; For it is better that he say to you 'Come up here,' Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince Whom your eyes have seen." So just be humble and don't expect the best place at the table and you will save yourself a lot of embarrassment.
Verse 9: If you have a problem with someone first go to them and do not start talking all around about your issue with someone.
Verse 21-22: "If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the LORD will reward you."
Verse 26: Don't be like a "murky spring and a polluted well" stand strong before the wicked.
Verse 27: "...So to seek one's own glory is not glory."
Verse 28: "Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls."
Verse 6-7: "Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, And do not stand in the place of the great; For it is better that he say to you 'Come up here,' Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince Whom your eyes have seen." Proverbs 26, March 26
The greatest among us is the servant of all. The Lord came and laid down all for us. He was the servant of all. Why does it so go against our grain to be a servant, when someone treats us like we are beneath them or not as important as we think we are? It's pride. When we become the servant of all, then we are truly free. Not to worry any more if we are being taken advantage of because we just don't care. If everyone gets to do more, or less, or whatever seems unjust to us. Deal with it and give it up. Give up that pride.
Proverbs 26: Beware of fools and don't try to "take them on," talebearers beware, slothful man beware, sluggard stay away from, be wise.

First, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to my sweetie pie, Heather. She is 19 today. From this we can all learn that our children grow up so fast and best not to blink or turn your back or they will be all grown up. If you are a Mom---enjoy those blessings!
Verse 1: This all fits well, because we can't know what tomorrow may bring so we should enjoy this day.
Verse 2: Great lesson to teach your children: "Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth,.."
Verse 15: Who in the world wants to be compared to dripping on a rainy day. Water torture. Yikes. So don't be contentious, quarrelsome, argumentative, or belligerent.
Verse 19: "As in water face reflects face, So a man's heart reveals the man."
Verse 22: No matter what you do to a fool: foolishness will always be with him.

The key to truly being happy is to think of others and put others' needs before your own. The more you focus on self, the less happy you become.
Verse 5: "Evil men understand not judgment; but they that seek the Lord understand all things."
Verse 13: "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
Verse 23: "He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue."
Verse 26: "He that trusted in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered."
Proverbs 29, March 29
Plans don't often go according to our specifications, but isn't that what walking with the Lord is? Learning to trust Him.
Verse 1: Learn to accept rebuke (correction, direction) without getting mad, puffing up, or rejecting it before consideration.
Verse 3: Love wisdom and make your father really happy.
Verse 4-6: Don't accept bribes, don't flatter, watch out for evil men and their transgressions.
Verse 9: Don't contend with a foolish man.
