Jennifer Cox Houlihan, 50, is a homemaker who lives in Georgia (southeast region of the United States) with her husband, retired Lt. Colonel Philip "Woody" Houlihan, who flew C-130s for the U.S. Air Force and currently flies for an airline. They have been married 25 years and have four children, ages 9, 12, 19, and 24. In 2016, their daughter Elizabeth died at age 16 of sudden heart failure.
In 1993, Mrs. Houlihan received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was on the dean's list and was a member of the UNC Loreleis, the a capella singing group. After a couple of years in public relations before the children were born, she has devoted herself to homemaking.
Jennifer Houlihan is the author of Triumphant Womanhood: God's Never "Whatever," published in 2015. She has written for Better Times Magazine, which supports A Better Way Ministries, a place of refuge in Georgia for men who are struggling to overcome life-controlling addictions. Columns from Mrs. Houlihan have been published in National Guard Magazine and in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper. She has contributed to the newsletter for the Fellowship of Christian Airline Personnel. Her writing has been featured in The Classical Teacher, the publication from Memoria Press in Kentucky, and in magazines for non-profit homeschool associations in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania. She has worked as a lifestyle model for Ursula Wiedmann agency in Atlanta.
Mrs. Houlihan was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina. Her parents have been married for more than 50 years and have passed down a legacy of family devotion, hard work and a sparkling sense of humor. Her mother is active in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Houlihan has two married brothers, two nephews and three nieces. Both of Mrs. Houlihan's grandmothers were diligent, faithful, strong Southern women who overcame many challenges and hardships. Her ancestor Gideon Pond translated the Bible for Native Americans.
Jennifer Houlihan is in awe of God's Word. She has given her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and makes it her goal to glorify Him, serve Him, and grow closer to Him because she has found that this is the secret to a fulfilling life. She writes because she wants you to be just as triumphant.
