1 John 1
“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:6-7
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.
There’s that grace thing where if we’ve messed up in life, and we all have, he cleanses all our yuck.
1 John 2
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.” 1 John 2:3. If I ever start to wonder, now do I really know the Lord? Yep I pretty much do because I honor Him with my life. When we say commandments here we don’t just mean the 10 commandments, although we like those. We mean all of God’s ways.
“He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.” 1 John 2:9
“….ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.” 1 John 2:14
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” 1 John 2:27. Eh? What’s that you say sonny?
1 John 3
“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.” 1 John 3:13. I’m not marveling. Head’s up, marvel not, the world will hate you. And I’m good with that. I’d rather be hated by the world and loved of God than… the other way around. Chill up my spine just then.
1 John 4
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of Gold; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:11
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment…” 1 John 4:17
“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom h hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” 1 John 4:20. Kinda makes you want to evaluate your relationships and make sure you’re not harboring any hatred toward anyone.
1 John 5
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5: 11-13. It’s all for real.
“…but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” 1 John 5:18. He just said, Satan you can’t touch us!
3 John
“…thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2. It is well with your soul. I like the sound of “prospereth.” I think I shall prospereth now.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 1:4
“Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good.” 3 John 1:11.
Whenever the Bible says that “beloved,” it’s like, “sweety?” Beloved? Sweety? Don’t be following evil. Kay?
